Undergraduate Cultural Event Showcases Asian, Hispanic Students for Hire
Event: Scoring Careers minority recruiting fair.
When: Jan. 31, 6-9 p.m.
Where: San Jacinto Multipurpose Room, 207C. Map can be found at http://www.utexas.edu/maps/main/buildings/sjh.html.
Background: As Corporate America seeks more diversity in their
hires, students at the McCombs School are responding. Putting a
spin on the typical career fair, the Asian Business Students
Association and the Hispanic Business Students Association will
co-host the second annual Scoring Careers minority recruiting
fair Monday, Jan. 31. The fair will feature recruiters from more
than 30 well-known companies, including the Big Four accounting
firms, Foley’s, Goldman Sachs, Enterprise and Deloitte.
With a focus on diversity in the workplace, the event offers
students an opportunity to network with several well-known
companies in a casual, no-ties-allowed atmosphere.
In a blend of cultural appreciation and professionalism, more
than 30 company representatives will join students for Asian and
Mexican hors d’oeuvres, cultural games and performances and
hourly raffle prizes. Many of the same recruiters will be
present at the Intern Expo the following Wednesday, allowing
McCombs undergraduates who attend Scoring Careers to get
additional exposure.
All students are welcome to attend the event. Resumes will be
accepted at the door for inclusion in a comprehensive resume CD
that all attending companies will receive at the end of the
night.
