Bio: Charlie Feld is executive vice president of Portfolio
Management. In this role, he leads the development of EDS' portfolio
of service offerings and solutions, which includes the following
groups: Infrastructure Portfolio, Application Portfolio, BPO
Portfolio, Industry Frameworks, Alliances, Technology Development and
Portfolio Strategy. He is also responsible for the office of the CIO
and the EDS Fellows, a group of the corporation’s most innovative
thought leaders. Feld is a member of EDS' Executive Committee.
Previously, Feld founded The Feld Group in 1992. As CEO of the
Dallas-based firm, he built a team of information technologies (IT)
executives that enabled dramatic results in Fortune 500 companies
through the transformation of their own IT organizations. In addition
to building the company, Feld led several transformations himself. He
also focused on helping multiple Feld Group clients and on building a
Leadership Institute leveraging the frameworks and management systems
developed through operating experiences, extending the company's
impact on the overall IT profession.
Before launching The Feld Group, he was vice president/CIO at
Frito-Lay, Inc. He began his association with Frito-Lay in 1970 as
systems engineer for IBM on the Frito-Lay account, playing a key role
in developing the company's computer network over an 11-year period.
Feld has garnered accolades from numerous corners, including
Business2.0 in August 2002 as well as in the September 30, 2002,
edition of Computerworld. He also has been featured in InformationWeek
and CIO magazine, which placed him among their “5 Top CIOs” in June
2001. He was profiled by The New York Times in November 2000, by Fast
Company in October 2000 and in The Economist's April 14, 2001, issue.
Fast Company also named him one of the eight turn-around experts in
“Masters of Disaster” (April 2001). In 1997, Feld was named “One of
the 12 Most Influential IT Executives of the Past Decade” by CIO
magazine, and ComputerWorld named him as one of “25 IT People to Watch
in 1998.” His articles on IT leadership topics appear regularly in
Computerworld Executive Suite.
Charlie Feld earned his bachelor's degree in economics from the City
College of New York.
