Why attend: Sarbanes-Oxley has been called the most sweeping
corporate regulation measure in decades. Congress intended, among
other things, to assure that auditors will point out financial
shenanigans by their corporate clients before fraud or conflicts of
interest can hurt a company, its employees and its investors.
Bio: Christopher Meakin is the Assistant Dean for Academics
in the MBA Program Office and an Assistant Professor in MSIS. He
earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and his MA and JD from
the University of Houston. He was previously attorney for Vinson &
Elkins and the VP/General Counsel for a start-up company.
