Bio: Ben Wempe teaches business ethics at the department of
Business-Society Management, Rotterdam School of Management of
Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He studied political
theory in Leiden, Florence and Oxford. He received his Ph.D in 1986
at the University of Leiden on a study of T.H. Green’s theory of
positive freedom. He has been associated to RSM since 1992. Earlier
he held appointments at the University of Leiden, Webster
University, and the Catholic University of Nijmegen.
His teaching experience ranges from individual coaching
of students on their doctoral thesis and small scale seminars in the
Executive Part Time Education program to lectures for very large
audiences in the first year of the BA and the second year of the IBA
curriculum. He has published in academic journals such as Acta
Politica, Bedrijfskunde, Business Ethics: A European Review,
Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics,
Internationale Spectator and M&O Management en Organisatie. He is on
the editorial board of various journals and an Associate Editor of
Business & Society
