The Advantage The BHP combines the benefits of a small program with the vast resources of UT. The educational costs are a fraction of most comparable programs. Out-of-state residents often find the BHP less expensive than programs in their home states. Getting In Students apply to the BHP primarily during their senior year of high school. Additionally, a small number of students are admitted at the end of their freshmen year of college. These freshman applicants are primarily UT students, but students from all institutions are encouraged to apply. Upon acceptance to BHP, students are required to subscribe to and defend a student mandated BHP Honor Code. The Resources In addition to services available to all UT students, BHP students also have dedicated academic and career counselors who aid each student in their academic and professional development. Two full-time academic advisors are assigned to assist BHP students with academic counseling while students needing advice about career opportunities, internships, and job placement are assisted by counselors in the McCombs School of Business' Ford Career Center Career. The BHP also has a strong student network dedicated to helping fellow students achieve academic success. Students have easy access to mentors, peer advisors, and tutors. |
BHP core courses are accelerated and modeled after those taught in the MBA program. BHP courses are taught by some of the McCombs School's most experienced faculty. Emphasis is placed on class discussion and presentations, case study analysis, and the research of actual business decisions. Enrollment in BHP classes is restricted to students in the program, and the small class size (generally 30-45 students) facilitates interaction among students and faculty. Internships & Opportunities BHP students are required to obtain at least one internship during their stay in the program. Since BHP classes are not taught during the summer, many students obtain nationwide internships during the summer months, while others find positions during the summer or the academic year in Austin. Almost all BHP graduates seeking employment upon graduation are offered multiple positions at top salaries in a variety of areas including management consulting, investment banking, and accounting. Other BHP students pursue law or medical school. Either way, the BHP creates a plentitude of opportunity for its students. |
