What Sets BHP Students Apart

Curriculum

  • Classes are designed based on a MBA curriculum, with a heavy focus on case study, discussion, and analysis of current business events,

  • Small class sizes allow for a major emphasis on group work and developing presentation skills.

  • Students in the Business Honors Program (BHP) take classes that are unique within the Business School:

    MSC371H (Management Science) teaches students basics in analytical decision making, risk management, forecasting methodologies, and more;

    BA151H (Sophomore Lyceum) is a semester-long class that brings leaders from the business world to speak to students.

  • Business Honors students graduate with polished leadership, communication, and business skills.

Performance

Cream of the Crop: Business Honors Students are the top 10% of the business undergraduate population – the average BHP student has an SAT over 1425 and was in the top 2% of their high school graduating class.

Students must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA to remain in the program.

Graduates move on to become the top performers at their firms – BHP alumni can be found in leadership positions across a wide array of companies and careers.

Resources

Business Honors Students are taught by the brightest minds from both the McCombs School of Business and industry.

Several BHP professors have been honored by being selected into the Academy of Distinguished Professors or by receiving Texas Excellence Teaching Awards.

The BHP has four full-time staff members dedicated to developing and assisting the students of the Program.

Opportunity

Business Honors is the only major within the Business School that allows for a second major. Many students also opt to expand their horizons with second majors outside of the Business School; others are also students in the Plan II program.

Leadership and service are continually developed in Business Honors Students through BHP-sponsored conferences, programs, and speakers.
