Orientation and Class Meeting

  • All BA 353H interns are required to attend an internship orientation meeting (time and date TBA by Dr. Cox) in the semester for which they are registered.

    1. Detailed Journal

    • Each intern is required to keep a daily or weekly journal of his or her activities in the internship. The journal entries will briefly report hours worked and give an overview of the project(s) on  and the knowledge obtained from the work. The journal must be type written and submitted along with the other materials in the term-paper cover.

    2. Internship Documentation Form

    • At the completion of the internship, each employer must complete an Internship Documentation Form. This form will document hours worked and projects performed. It will include a space for an assessment of the student's work, which the supervisor may complete at his or her company's discretion.

    • Your Internship supervisor is to complete this form and return it to you in a sealed envelope. It is advisable that this form be obtained from the supervisor on the last day on the internship.

    3. Term Paper

    • A final paper is due the last week of class in the long semester for which the student is registered. A typewritten, double-spaced, ten pages, hard copy of the final paper. This final paper will detail the student's internship experience (projects performed, the skills developed, and the learning acquired both technically and professionally), and its impact on the student's career plans.

    • It is important that all five of the documents listed above be submitted in a cover to ensure that none are lost.

  • The five documents bound in a three-ring term paper cover must be submitted after you have completed your 160 internship hours according to these deadlines.

Where can I find the internship packet?

When do I seek approval to register for BA 353H?

  • You must complete a BA 353H petition BEFORE you begin your internship.

When is BA 353H offered?

  • BA 353H is offered during the fall and spring semesters. If you have an internship during the summer you need to request to register for the BA 353H offered in the fall.

How long does it take to process the BA 353H request form?

  • It typically takes about 5-8 working days to process the request. You will receive an email message once the internship is approved.

Can I use any internship to count for BA 353H credit?

  • You must use a business-related internship. It does not have to be in a specific area of business. It CANNOT be a telemarketing or clerical position.

May I take the BA 353H course for a grade?

  • BA 353H is only offered on a credit/no credit basis. You may not take it for a grade.

What are the course requirements once I am registered for BA 353H?

  • The course requirements are 1.) a weekly journal describing your daily internship activities and any special projects you are assigned and 2.) a paper describing your overall internship experience.

When and where do I turn in my journal and paper?

  • The five documents bound in a three-ring term paper cover must be submitted to Dr. Eli Cox in CBA 2.312. after you have completed your 160 internship hours according to these deadlines.

How do I register for the course?

  • Once your receive an email message approving your internship you will need register yourself for the course. You MUST register by the 12th class day of each semester.
