There will be a variety of events to celebrate the occasion, including distinguished speakers and opportunities for alumni to network with friends and colleagues. President of The University of Texas at Austin

William Powers Jr., is the 28th president of The University of Texas at Austin. Before taking office, he served as dean of the university's School of Law, where he won recognition for recruiting a world-class faculty and attracting highly diverse and talented students. As president of The University of Texas at Austin, Powers has identified four areas of emphasis: Building support for higher education throughout Texas, Elevating the university's academic standing to the best in the nation among public universities, Recruiting a diverse student body and faculty and reforming the undergraduate core curriculum. He taught at the University of Washington Law School before coming to The University of Texas at Austin in 1977.

DeLoss Dodds

UT Athletics Director

The leader behind one of the nation's most successful athletics programs, DeLoss Dodds is in his 28th year as men's athletics director at The University of Texas. Dodds has guided Texas through some of the school's most dynamic times since assuming the position as UT's ninth athletics director in fall 1981. During his tenure at Texas, the Longhorns have claimed 12 National Championships and 97 conference (Southwest and Big 12) titles in nine different sports. UT has earned 20 bowl berths, received an NCAA basketball tourney bid 18 times and won three NCAA baseball titles while advancing to the College World Series 12 times under Dodds' watch.

Red McCombs

Entrepreneur and Philanthropist

Billy Joe "Red" McCombs started his career in auto sales after he was “convinced” to do so while visiting a friend in Corpus Christi. McCombs was immediately successful, owning his first dealership at age 25. At one time he owned the sixth-largest auto conglomerate in the U.S., comprising more than 50 dealerships. Red McCombs Automotive Group now consists of five dealerships in San Antonio. McCombs was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame with its Distinguished Service Citation, the most prestigious award given in the automobile industry. Other business ventures include Clear Channel Communications, Koontz McCombs and McCombs Energy. An avid follower of the sports industry, McCombs has also owned various sports teams from the Corpus Christi Texas Clippers in the Big State Baseball League to the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Vikings.

Lynn Utter

(BHP Alum ’84), President and COO, Knoll, NA, East Greenville, Pennsylvania

Lynn Utter serves as President and Chief Operating Officer, Knoll North America and is concurrently a Director of WESCO International, Inc. Before her employment with Knoll, she worked for Coors Brewing Company where she held various operational titles before becoming Group Vice President of Operations. She soon climbed the ranks of serving as Chief Strategy Officer, a position which she held from 2003 to 2008. Prior to that, Ms. Utter was Vice President of Sales of Frito-Lay Company.

Dr. Henning Kreke

(BHP Alum ’80), President and CEO, Douglas Holding AG, Hagen, Germany

Dr. Henning Kreke (1965) is CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board at DOUGLAS HOLDING AG. In 1994, he was awarded a doctorate in Political Science at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. Prior to this he completed a BBA and MBA at the University of Texas in Austin, after which he worked in the Corporate Finance department of the investment bank Salomon Brothers in New York, Frankfurt and London. Dr. Henning Kreke joined the DOUGLAS Group in 1993 as assistant to the Director of the Fashion/Sports division. Appointed to the DOUGLAS HOLDING AG Executive Board in 1997, he has been its Chairman since July 2001.

The Business Honors Program owes much of its success to the efforts of its director, Dr. Eli P. Cox III, who has been at the helm of the Program for the last 14 years. At the 50th anniversary, Dr. Cox will officially announce his upcoming retirement.
