Import an Access Database using FrontPage

Follow these instructions to import an Access database with the correct file and folder permissions.

  1. Open the website in FrontPage.
  2. Under the File menu, choose 'Import'.

  3. In the dialogue box, select 'Add File'.  Then browse to and select the Access (.mdb) file.  Press 'Open' and then 'OK' on the next dialogue box.

  4. As FrontPage imports the Access file, it will prompt you for the name of the database.  This is how you will refer to the database in your code.  Fill in a name, or keep the default, and press 'YES'.

  5. FrontPage will ask if you want to store your database in the "fpdb" folder.  Select 'YES'.  FrontPage will then create the folder and assign the correct permissions to it.

  6. FrontPage will import the database into the "fpdb" folder and create a global.asa file in the root of the folder in to which you imported.

If you have any other questions about importing Access databases with Frontpage, please email the Webmasters.
