MBA International Programs

MBA/MPA Business Language Tutoring

CIBER offers personal and small group tutoring sessions in a variety of languages for MBA and MPA students who would like to improve their foreign and business language skills.  There are generally 12 weekly 90-minute sessions that begin the third week of the semester.  The focus of the tutoring sessions depends on your level of proficiency:  Beginning (basic language), Intermediate (business terminology), Advanced (business situations).  This program is open to all MBA/MPA students on a non-credit basis.  Meeting times are flexible and scheduled with each instructor.  The cost of the tutoring program is $400.  Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. MBA Course International Content Development Grants and Course Internationalization Awards

In 2003, the International MBA Student Association (IMBASA), with the support of Deans Gau and Salbu, conducted a project to identify international content that should be a part of the education of all McCombs MBAs.  Subsequently, a grants program was created in order to encourage faculty participation in the effort to increase international content in the McCombs curriculum.  The program is administered by IMBASA and funded by CIBER.

MBA Course Internationalization Program –The first course internationalization contest was held in spring of 2004.  Applications are accepted in spring, 2007.  Up to six grants of approximately $1,000 each are available to faculty members who teach MBA courses, on a proposal basis.  Grants are available to faculty members teaching in both core and non-core categories.

Grantees are required to deliver a short before/after presentation of the changes in their course at a reception organized and hosted by IMBASA. Receptions are held the spring following application submission.

MBA Course Internationalization Award – At the IMBASA receptions, one grantee is selected to receive an award of $3,000 for “Best Internationalization of a Course” in each of the core and non-core categories  The selection is made by a panel of judges (from UT and from industry) based upon the grantees’ presentations of changes in their courses.
