Welcome!

This is the on-line site of the CIBER Short-Term Study Abroad (STSA) Workshop 2008.  One of the fastest-growing study-abroad formats, short-term programs fill many needs but also present unique challenges in curriculum, financing, and program management.

The purpose of this workshop is to bring together faculty and staff who have confronted these challenges at a variety of schools, to share their experiences and disseminate STSA ideas and best practices.  Whether you are an experienced STSA practitioner or just contemplating the challenges of implementing a short-term program, we hope you will find the agenda compelling.  We are confident that, through the formal presentations, panels, and informal interaction with experienced practitioners, you will find important and useful information to fit your program needs.

The STSA Workshop 2008 will be held at the Hilton Austin hotel in beautiful downtown Austin, located adjacent to the Austin Convention Center.  Guests will be in walking distance to a plethora of exciting eateries, shops, and hip night spots. Please join us for a few days of intellectual stimulation and a unique Austin experience!

"This is a city with a heart and with a soul. Cosmopolitan, yet unpretentious. Thriving cultural scene and vibrant nightlife. High-tech, low-key. Big city, college town. Quirky and far from ordinary, it's the kind of place where you check your worries at the city limits sign, trade in suits for something a bit more casual and prepare for experiences you'll find only in Austin."                                                        -Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau
