Checklist for Program Participants
 

The following checklist is for students enrolled in the CIBER Summer Study Abroad Programs.
 

Immediately Following Submission of Your Deposit:


 1. Meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss course
     applicability toward your degree.
 2. Submit the following forms/items to CIBER (GSB 3.126):
     • A program-specific Academic Advisor Approval Form (must

        be signed by your Academic Advisor)
     • Professionalism Policy

     • One passport-sized photo (headshot against solid background,

        can be color or black/white)


Important Note: Acceptance into the program is contingent upon your successful completion of the above steps. Failure to do so in a timely manner may forfeit your enrollment in the program.
 

During the Spring Semester:

 

 1. Passport: Everyone must have a valid passport. If you are a

     U.S. citizen and do not have a passport or need to renew your

     passport,  see the U.S. Department of State website

 2. Review Study Abroad Funding Information

 3. Apply for Scholarships, see: SAO Funding Study Abroad and
     CIBER Summer Study Abroad Scholarship

 4. Apply for Financial Aid: summer priority deadline is February

     15. For more information, see: Office of Student Financial

     Services
 5. Visas: U.S. citizens may require a visa for travel to

     certain countries, see Country Specific Information.  Non-U.S.

     citizens should check with the appropriate consulate for visa

     requirements as soon as possible.  Contact CIBER for guidance.

 6. Obtain Int’l Student ID Card (ISIC): UT-Austin requires every

     student going abroad to have an ISIC. It can be purchased

     through STA Travel or My ISIC for about $22-$25.


 

In March and April:


 1. Attend Pre-Departure Orientation, submit:
     • Legible copy of the photo & signature pages of your passport
 2. Course Registration: submit online course enrollment and
     course registration fee payment to University Extension. 

     Instructions will be distributed to participants at the

     orientation workshops.
 3. Register with International SOS (UTEID required)
 

Due by May 1, 2009:


Submit the following forms in “Study Abroad Portal
 1. Online Registration section
 2. Student Information Sheet
 2. Emergency Medical Authorization
 3. ISIC Information
 4. Health Insurance Form
 5. Release & Indemnification Agreement
 6. Flight & Passport Information
 7. Responsibilities of Participation Form
 8. Online Financial Aid Counseling, if applicable

 

Due by May 21, 2009:


Submit remaining balance payment of your CIBER program fee by 5pm on May 21, 2009.  Fee bills will be distributed at the orientation workshops in spring 2009.  The program fee (minus the deposit) will show up in "What I Owe."
