Roundtable Meeting on "Supply Chain Network Design and Optimization"

The University of Texas Supply Chain Management Consortium will host a Roundtable Meeting on May 9, 2006 from 8am-3pm in the Red McCombs School of Business (GSB 3.106). The topic is "Supply Chain Network Design and Optimization" A preliminary program along with driving directions, parking, and lodging are included below.

 

Final Program:

 

1.      7:30 AM Continental Breakfast Opens.

2.      8:00 AM Welcome and Road Map: Douglas Morrice (Director, UT SCM Consortium).

3.      8:15 AM Shell/The University of Texas MBA Practicum Project: "Distribution Strategy Analysis at Shell Lubricants Global Car Care", Jaweeria Ashraf, Scott Bryan, Matthew Jaruzel, Sanjay Mishra.

4.   9:00 AM The University of Texas at Austin: "Relevance with Rigor: Practice-driven Supply Chain Research Projects",  Dr. Anant Balakrishnan.

5.      10:00 AM AMAT: "Re-Engineering AMAT's Global Service Parts Network", Mr. George Drazic.

6.      10:45 AM Amazon.com: "Optimizing Amazon's Worldwide Supply Chain", Dr. Gang Yu.

7.   11:30 AM  Welcome from George Gau (Dean, The Red McCombs School of Business, UT, Austin) and Tom Shively (Chair, Management Science and Information Systems Department, UT, Austin).

8.   11:45 AM Lunch (3rd Floor Special Events Room).

9.   1:15 PM Frito-Lay: "Supply Chain Network Design and Optimization at Frito-Lay", Mr. Steve Hankin.

10.   2:00 PM Dell: "Network Design in Support of Dell's Supply Chain", Dr. Alexis Takvorian.

11.   2:45 PM Wrap-up. Doug Morrice.

 

Driving Directions to The University of Texas:

Heading North on IH-35:

Take the 15th Street - Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Exit. The first intersecting street/light is 15th St. Continue heading north on the access road past 15th street. The next intersecting street is Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Turn left/west onto MLK. Keep driving west on MLK until you approach Brazos Street. Turn right on Brazos Street, then right on Jester Circle, and immediate right into Brazos Parking Garage (see Parking Information below).

Heading South on IH-35:

Make sure to take the IH-35 overpass (stay to your right) and take the University of Texas exit. Heading south on the access road, get into the furthest right-hand lane. The first intersecting street/light is Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Turn right/west onto MLK. Keep driving west on MLK until you approach Brazos Street. Turn right on Brazos Street, then right on Jester Circle, and immediate right into Brazos Parking Garage (see Parking Information below).

From Austin-Bergstrom International Airport:

 

Turn left from the airport onto Hwy 71 (also named Ben White).  Exit right onto HWY 183 (Airport Blvd.).  Stay in the right lane over the river, but do to turn right as 183 diverges from Airport.  The right lane becomes Airport and continues NW.  Keep driving west on MLK until you approach Brazos Street. Turn right on Brazos Street, then right on Jester Circle, and immediate right into Brazos Parking Garage (see Parking Information below).

 

Parking (and Directions to the Red McCombs School of Business):

 

Please park in the Brazos Parking Garage (BRG) (see http://www.utexas.edu/maps/main/buildings/brg.html for a map).  Take a ticket.  We will validate your parking ticket at the meeting.

 

The Red McCombs School  of Business is located on the NW corner of the Speedway/21st St intersection (see http://www.utexas.edu/maps/main/buildings/gsb.html for a map). Please enter from 21st Street and follow the signs to the conference.
