MIS VPN and SQL Client Tools Setup
This site helps McCombs MIS students set up VPN connections and install SQL2005 Client Tools as well as SQL Service Pack 2 and the new Vista-VPN upgrade.
Before you begin, please read the following:
- Ensure that your computer is completely up-to-date with Windows 'patch'
updates. (If you're uncertain about the status of your 'patch' updates, you can
freely use the 'Windows Update' web site. Also, after installing any new
Microsoft software on your computer, use the 'Windows Update' web site to verify
your Windows patches again.)
- Ensure that your Anti-virus program has the latest virus definitions by
running update within your anti-virus program.
- If you encounter a problem setting up your UT VPN connection to MIS SQL Server,
send an e-mail to
MISVPN@mccombs.utexas.edu with
the following information:
- Name of your Internet Service Provider
- Version of your Operating System
- Make/Model of the computer you're using
- A screenshot of the error you're receiving
- NOTE: Starting Fall, 2008, the McCombs MIS SQL will be accessible from the UT VPN site.
These are the MIS VPN Setup Services:
- Install SQL 2005 Client Tools
- Install SQL 2005 Service Pack 2
- Install the UT VPN Client
- Connect to UT using your Cisco VPN Client - Windows XP
- Connect to UT using your Cisco VPN Client - Windows Vista
