Research/WRDS

What is WRDS?
WRDS is the Wharton Data Research Data Services.  According to the WRDS web page, WRDS is a:

State-of-the-Art web-based data management services provide seamless delivery of data from multiple sources onto Unix workstations and desktop PCs.

This is a service that the McCombs School of Business and the General Libraries have subscribed to in order to facilitate research in the College of Business.  (This is a joint subscription shared by the libraries and the McCombs School of Business.)

This replaces local access to CRSP and Compustat and provides a number of other resource we do not have.  This decision was made to provide better support and research to the faculty, staff and students at the McCombs School of Business.

What resources are available through WRDS?

  • Compustat (financial, statistical, and marketing information)
  • Global Vantage
  • DRI (macroeconomic database)
  • FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation)
