What is a Sponsored Account?
From time to time, people without an official appointment to McCombs may require access to computers or other technology resources that are provided by our college. For these occasions a "Sponsored Account" can be created to provide the required access for a fixed length of time. Sponsored Accounts require the approval of a Dean or Department Chair and can be requested using the form below.
Who will need a Sponsored Account?
Visiting Scholar/Researcher: A faculty member or student from
another institution who is working or teaching with a McCombs faculty
member or academic program
Temporary Worker: A person with an existing staff appointment
within UT or the UT system (including UTemps) who will be working at
McCombs on a temporary basis
Outside Contractor: A person who is not appointed elsewhere at
UT performing work, usually outside of McCombs, under contract with a
department (ex. Web programmer, consultant, program organizer).
Program Participant: A person who is participating in a
department sponsored event which requires network or computer access.

Is email provided with a Sponsored Account?
There are three options available for email services:
- Exchange Mailbox: A McCombs email address and Exchange mailbox can be created which will be similar to existing accounts for faculty and staff with a First.Last@mccombs.utexas.edu email address and access to our email server.
- Email Forwarding: Forwarding provides a McCombs email address, but all messages sent to that address would be forwarded to an existing external address. This is a useful option for someone who needs to show a connection to McCombs but would like to continue to use an existing email account.
- Address List Contact: We can provide an entry in our Global Address Book (GAL), which will allow others in McCombs to easily contact the person for whom the account is being created but does not provide an @mccombs.utexas.edu email address.
How do I request a Sponsored Account?
1. Fill out form below or download
this Excel spreadsheet (for multiple accounts)
2. Request are routed to Dean or Chair for approval
3. You will be emailed when account is created
Sponsored accounts are subject to the same Acceptable Use policies as any other McCombs or University computer account.
