How To...

Below you'll find links to instructions on how to perform some common tasks and also see who to contact for assistance. For a comprehensive list of tutorials and other online instructions see http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/services/cbacc/training/tutorials/index.asp.

Change Passwords

  • To change your McCombs password online, click here.

  • If you are using a McCombs computer you can also press CTRL - ALT - DELETE and select "Change Password" from the menu that appears.

Your McCombs account is intended for your use only and is protected by complex password requirements. McCombs password requirements are:

  • A minimum of eight (8) characters in length
  • At least one non-letter character
  • Upper and lower case letters
  • Does not include words that appear in a dictionary
  • May not contain your username or any part of your full name

Do not share your password with anyone. Passwords must be reset annually, although more frequent changes may be required from time to time by the University Information Security Office or the Director of Computer Services.

Access Email

You can get to your McCombs email online at http://mail.mccombs.utexas.edu.

The Technology Training Team has put together a comprehensive guide to configuring Outlook to access your email, including instructions for using VPN and RPC over HTTP, at http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/tech/training/NetworkResources/index.asp.

Connect Remotely

The Technology Training Team has put together a comprehensive guide to remote connectivity at http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/tech/training/NetworkResources/index.asp.

Remote access to most McCombs network resources will require the use of the University VPN service to establish a direct connection to campus.

Alternatives for off-campus file storage and sharing include Webspace and SharePoint.

NOTE: Because external networks are not part of the McCombs environment, we cannot provide you with full technical support for remote connectivity. The number of potential variables is simply too large to be able to troubleshoot remotely, given the constraints of our support resources.
