As a professional and philanthropic branch of ABSA, the Consulting
Team is a student-run group that serves the Austin community and
provides free professional advice to small businesses and non-profit organizations.
Past Projects
Make-A-Wish
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nationally renowned charity organization
which grants wishes to children suffering from terminal illnesses.
Working closely with Tammy Shakelee, President and CEO of the Central
and South Texas Chapter, we assisted in their $80,000 decision to
purchase a top-of-the line database system.
We researched various aspects of the database package by gathering
opinions from industry experts, interviewing organizations who were
already using that database, and researching online. In the end,
our deliverables included a report of user opinions, suggested key
points for consideration, and a possible alternate database.
YWCA
The YWCA is a worldwide organization dedicated to empowering women
and eliminating racism. The Greater Austin chapter specifically
serves its community by providing counseling services to low-income
families and hosting racial justice seminars for practicing clinicians.
Working closely with Diana Gorham, Executive Director of the Greater
Austin Chapter, we targeted opportunities to restructure their marketing
plan.
Through extensive face-time with the client and detailed analysis
of the key players affecting their organization, we provided recommendations
to make their existing marketing more efficient and effective. We
also identified two additional segments which, if targeted, may
become valuable sources of funding and publicity for this organization.
Pick-a-Prof
The Pick-A-Prof is an Austin-based Internet company that provides
professor review and grading history services for college students.
Working closely with Chris Chilek, CEO and founder of Pick-A-Prof,
we assisted in developing and implementing their new marketing project,
Advanced Student Marketing.
By categorizing different interest groups catered to the university,
we researched niche local websites that college students frequently
visit . Based on our research, we contacted them by two different
approaches to find out optimal methods. Finally, we suggested how
to implement our findings to other colleges nationwide.
