What do you like most about ABSA?

You can find anything and everything you’re looking for in ABSA – best friends, a 2nd family, career development, leadership opportunities, roommates, lunch buddies, study buddies, work out buddies, volunteering opportunities, and the list goes on!  ABSA has provided me with the opportunity to develop all the skills that are important to working in the real world – leadership, teamwork, communication, conflict-management, and much more.  ABSA has even helped me find internships.  And guess what – ABSA can do the same for you!

But even more important are the people in ABSA. It’s always nice to see familiar ABSA faces when I go to HEB, Mill Lab, Atrium, PCL, Jester, Gregory, basically anywhere.  It definitely helps make the huge UT campus seem smaller and more like home.  I have found my best friends here; they are my second family, and I can count on them for anything.  I wouldn’t call Austin my 2nd home if it wasn’t for all the people of ABSA! You’ll know what I’m talking about once you come out and get to know the people in ABSA. With ABSA, you’ll graduate from UT with many, many wonderful memories!

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

Here are my top 5 tips for incoming freshmen (in no particular order):
  1. School and grades come first. No matter how involved you get in your extracurricular   activities, remember grades should come first. That’s why you are at this amazing university!
  2. Make it a habit to work out on a regular basis.
  3. Always have an open mind. Explore UT and Austin, meet new people, and try new things.  There is so much to do in Austin!
  4. Even though you’re meeting so many new people, do NOT forget about the friends and family at home.
  5. Make room in your coursework to study abroad.  The earlier you start planning, the better. You’ll probably hear this a lot from graduating seniors, too.
Make a list of 3 objectives you want to accomplish this year and make those your priorities
  1. Create an atmosphere for members that will foster growth, whether it’s professionally,   personally, socially, academically, or athletically.  ABSA is here to help members achieve their goals.
  2. Establish new relationships and strengthen old relationships with every person or organization that ABSA touches.
  3. Build and mold future leaders for ABSA.
One interesting fact about yourself:

My absolute favorite show is Friends.  I’ve seen every episode at least 3 times, and I have all 10 seasons at home, except home is over the Pacific in Tokyo (sadness).  If I had all 10 seasons in Austin, I would have Friends playing on my TV whenever I’m home. Don’t be surprised if you hear me say, “So there’s this episode in Friends…”

What is your dream car?

A white Mercedes CLS 63 AMG on iForged rims with a custom JL Audio sound system.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation

If you could bring 3 things to a deserted island, what would they be?

My family, matches, and a knife

Get the 411 on Jocelyn from TIFFANY...

If Jocelyn were a Friend's character, she would be Ross. She's incredibly intelligent and has a serious side, but when she's around her friends her silly side emerges.

The best thing about Jocelyn is her relaxed personality. She's always in the mood to share a few laughs with anyone.
