3.       To provide an opportunity for students and prospective employers to communicate and to facilitate sound faculty relations.

4.       To increase the number and diversity of employers recruiting UT students.

5.       Finally, to enhance the reputation of The University of Texas, College and Graduate School of Business Administration, by providing the extensive type of services needed to promote community awareness.

Services Offered

1.       Career Counseling

1.1.    Career Counseling is available to assist students throughout their career exploration. Topics include career choice decisions, resume development, interviewing techniques (including mock interviews), offer evaluation, and general job search strategies.

2.       Mock Interviews

2.1.    The mock interview is an opportunity for intensive interview practice through simulations with corporate volunteers or the counseling staff. Often videotaped, the mock interview provides students with feedback on their professional appearance, responses to employer questions, and their overall self-presentation.

3.       Employer Receptions

3.1.    Employer receptions and information sessions are a vital part of the recruiting process. They offer an informal setting of students to meet employers and learn more about their organizations before the formal interview. Because from 200 to 300 events are held each year, the FCC maintains a calendar of pre-recruiting events. Events are posted through CareerLaunch and are advertised on the bulletin board adjacent to the FCC, as well as weekly printout. Students are encouraged to sign up for receptions through CareerLaunch.

4.       Career Services Library

4.1.    The FCC maintains two career resources libraries exclusively for graduate and undergraduate business students. The library offers company literature, brochures, and videotapes, as well as specific job information for on and off campus recruiting. Resource books, corporate directories, business publications and alumni contacts are also available.

5.       Media Center

5.1.    The FCC Career Libraries house more than 300 videotapes for career research support. Offerings include promotional tapes as well as tapes of recent FCC workshops and career panels covering a variety of topics.

6.       JOBLINE

6.1.    The FCC publishes a job announcement bulletin, the JOBLINE, listing full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities for students. In most cases, students contact the employers directly about the positions. The bulletin is posted in CareerLaunch.

7.       Alumni Placement Services

7.1.    Alumni of the Business School are welcome to use the counseling services and library resources offered by our office at any time following their graduation. Alumni are entitled to register with and interview through the FCC up to three years after graduation.

8.       On-Campus Recruiting

8.1.    The on-campus recruiting program is a major focus of the FCC. More than 350 organizations recruit graduate and undergraduate business students on campus each year, using a variety of selections procedures. Employers use 40 interview rooms to conduct nearly 15,000 interviews on campus. The CareerLaunch system provides automated student registration and computer referrals of resumes to companies.

8.2.    The FCC hosts two primary recruiting seasons. The Fall season takes place from the end of September through the first week of December, with interview sign-up starting in early September. The Spring season begin February 1 and continues through the Spring semester.
