BACKGROUND:
India’s rise as an economic power has been
going on for the past 20 years, and has recently been the center of the
current political controversy over the loss of jobs from the United States
to India. In this presentation, Gurcharan Das will discuss India’s future
as a significant player in the global economy.
Das
is the author of the best-selling book, “India Unbound,” which has
recently been filmed by the BBC. He has also written a novel, “A Fine
Family,” and a number of plays, one of which was produced off-Broadway,
that have been recently published as an anthology. He also writes a Sunday
column in the Times of India newspaper. He graduated from Harvard
University and was CEO of Procter & Gamble India before becoming a
full-time writer based in New Delhi.
The lecture, which is free and
