The University of Texas Brass Ring Program
What is it?
- A unique academic program linking area organizations with
selected UT student teams to address important business issues
- Faculty directed teams, leveraging University of Texas
resources, address your priority business needs using a project oriented
approach
- Teams of four to five students apply their academic
knowledge to support project objectives, gain hands-on workplace experience,
and produce value-add results
What else do I need to know?
- Originated in 1998, Brass Ring has conducted dozens of
successful projects involving hundreds of students with firms such
as Dell, Time Warner Cable, Commercial Texas, Wayport, Capitol Metro,
American Red Cross, Austin Technology Incubator firms, Resource Financial
Group, National Instruments, Caritas, Shell, and others
- Brass Ring is a no fee program, with sponsoring firms
providing project definition and guidance, periodic coordination
meetings, and receipt of finished project results. Recent activities
have included market research, process improvement, business plan
development, human resources, web site development, Spanish speaking
market development, supply chain management, and a range of other topics
- Projects are one semester in length, permitting
two opportunities per year for sponsoring organizations
