2008 MBA Open MIC Competition

What is Open MIC?

Music Industry Challenge
MBA Open MIC (Music Industry Challenge) is a national case competition giving MBAs from top business schools across the country the opportunity to analyze a current challenge facing a company in the music industry and present their recommendations in front of a panel of music industry judges.

Why Open MIC?
The music industry today, more than ever, is in need of high level business skills to solve real business problems. Disruptive technology has fundamentally changed the industry and continues to change it at a rapid pace. Big box retailers like Wal-Mart and Best Buy have more and more power over labels. The industry is facing challenges it has never faced before.

South by Southwest
Open MIC will be hosted in Austin, TX during
South by Southwest, the biggest music industry gathering in America. The case competition will benefit greatly from SXSW by increasing networking opportunities and providing great live music and other night life.
