Technology Orientation

Support

As important as technology is to you, we offer a lot of support to help keep you up and running and to teach you how to make the most of it. Below is information about two of the main support groups at McCombs:


SWAT (Students With Advanced Technology)

Hours: M-Th 8-4:45, Friday 9-2:45 when classes are in session
Location: CBA 1.324

About: The trained student staff of the SWAT Shop provide support services for McCombs students with notebook computers. The primary purpose of the SWAT Shop is to support the McCombs Notebook Computer Program.

The SWAT Shop CAN:

  • Diagnose hardware and software problems
  • Repair or replace failed hardware components for program notebooks
  • Reconfigure software or reinstall the software image for program notebooks
  • Update drivers and service packs
  • Lend out computers or components as needed to students while their computers are being repaired

The SWAT Shop CANNOT:

  • Repair or replace components damaged by user that are intentional or due to fire
  • Replace components that have been lost or stolen
  • Back up your files. ONLY YOU are responsible for your files
  • Lend Hot Swaps for forgotten or lost computers
  • Sell components or software
  • Perform hardware repairs on non-program computers

Technology Training

About: The mission of the Computer Services Technology Training Team is to promote the effective use and exploration of computer technology by providing superior training and learning resources to the students, faculty, and staff of the McCombs School of Business and the community it serves.

The Technology Training Team provides a range of services for the McCombs community. Primarily, we offer training classes covering software in the Common Operating Environment. These classes are broken down by user group – graduate students, undergraduate students, faculty and staff. We also offer individual assistance for your “How Do I…?” questions through email, office visits, or over the phone. If you need a private class offered for your department, please contact the training team to see how we can assist you. The Technology Training Team Lab is available for departmental and student presentation use when it is not in use by the Training Team.
