Faculty & Staff Home Drives

Faculty and staff members have personal storage space on the business school servers called Home Drives, also known as your H: drive or network storage space.  These H: drives will eventually be phased out.

How much storage space do I have?

  • Faculty - 5 GB
  • Staff - 2 GB

What should I use my H: drive for?

Your home drive is for your personal use. It is a good space to store your personal work, pictures, and other files. The home drive is an excellent place to place back up copies of your files that are saved on your computer.

Will anyone else have access to my H: drive?

No, you are the only person who will be able to access your network storage space.  Access is restricted to your McCombs user account and password.

How can I access my H: drive when I am at work?

Once you have mapped your H: drive following the directions below, you can find your H: drive by opening My Computer. It will be listed under Network Drives. Double-click on the drive to access it.

How can I access my H: drive when I am outside the Business School?

Due to security issues, you must be on-campus to access your H: drive. However, using ITS' Virtual Private Network (VPN) software, your computer can be connected to the campus network, allowing you to view your H: drive even while off-campus.

Is my H: drive backed up?

No, your H: drive is not backed up.  Therefore, it should only be used as a secondary storage space.  You should always have a copy of a file on your H: drive saved in another location.

How can I connect to my H: drive?

To connect to your H: drive, you will need to follow the instructions below to connect to your network storage space. If you are not on campus, you will first need to run the VPN software.

Once you follow the instructions below, the H: drive will always be connected to your computer. However, you will need to run VPN every time you want to connect to your H: drive from off-campus.
