How do I apply to the McCombs School of Business?

The Undergraduate Business Program accepts applications for the fall semester only.

All admission decisions (except Business Honors Program and BBA/MPA: integrated approach) are made by the Office of Admissions at the University of Texas. The admission application can be found online at www.applytexas.org.  For more information regarding admission, housing, scholarships, financial aid and student life,  please visit the Be a Longhorn website.

U.S. transfer applications have a March 1 deadline for the fall semester.

Note: If you are or were enrolled already in another UT-Austin college/school (e.g., Liberal Arts, Natural Science, etc.) and seek admission as an internal transfer to the McCombs School, you should read the Internal Transfer Process page.

What are the Admissions Requirements?

The McCombs School of Business strives to maintain an outstanding student body. In order to provide the best educational experience to our students, the college has limited enrollment, and admission is extremely competitive. Approximately 800 freshmen, 100 external transfer students, and 300 internal transfer students enroll in the McCombs School of Business each fall. To be considered for admission to the McCombs School of Business, freshman and external transfer applicants must state that they wish to major in Business on their UT application.

For more information regarding admission, please visit the Be a Longhorn website.

Does the McCombs School of Business offer on-line BBA degree programs?

The McCombs School does not offer undergraduate degree programs or courses on-line. All undergraduate business majors require a certain number of hours completed in residence (in a day classroom setting on the UT-Austin campus).

Please visit our Distance Education Center for more information regarding non-traditional course offerings through the University of Texas at Austin.

  • High school options include: Dual credit, accelerated and correspondence courses, and credit by exam.
