The December 2009 BBA Commencement Ceremony will be held at the Frank Erwin Center on Sunday, December 6 at 10 AM. During this ceremony, BBA degree candidates’ names are called as they walk across the stage and receive a letter of congratulations from the Dean. The Office of the Registrar mails diplomas to students after the official date of graduation.
Special services are available to accommodate the needs of graduates or visitors with disabilities at all Commencement events. If you or your guests require accommodations due to a disability, students may either note this on the commencement RSVP via the Graduation Manager, or contact our office at (512) 471-0690.
Graduation Candidate Instructions
BBA students who wish to participate in the Commencement Ceremony need to confirm participation on the Graduation Manager website. There is no reservation or ticketing process needed to attend the ceremony. Participants may invite as many guests as you would like. However, only graduation candidates are allowed into the staging area and onto the floor during the ceremony.
You should arrive at the Red River entrance of the Erwin Center by 9 am and report to the Lone Star Room. Ushers will be available to direct you. You will line up with the other candidates from your major, and the majors will cross the stage in a certain order, but within your major, you may line up in whatever order you wish.
Don’t forget to make sure you’re actually going to graduate! Graduation applications will be available on August 25th. The deadline to apply to graduate is October 21, 2009 at 10:59 PM. .
Students who wish to participate in the ceremony but will not graduate until summer 2009 need to RSVP for the ceremony on the on the Graduation Manager website. The deadline to RSVP for the ceremony is November 6, 2009 at 11:59 PM.Traditional academic regalia – cap, gown, and tassel – is required of all students participating in University commencement exercises. Academic regalia, personalized invitations, and similar items are available for purchase from the University Co-op. More information can be found on their web site: http://www.coop-bookstore.com
Please note that graduation candidates should leave all personal items with their guests. Items such as bags, purses, and coats cannot be carried onto the floor, and cannot be left in the Lone Star Room.
Flash Photography of Dallas will be the official photographer. The photographers will take your picture as you walk across the stage, and they will contact you by email after the ceremony. Flash Photography will provide proofs and information about the ordering of pictures. Please make sure that The University has your correct address on file so that the photographer can contact you. To update your University address information, go to UT Direct (you must have a UT EID).
There will be three speakers. One speaker will represent McCombs School alumni; the second speaker will represent the faculty; the third speaker will be a member of the graduating class. The Undergraduate Programs Office will solicit applications for the student speaker position via email to all graduates (please make sure your email is updated-see above).

Parking for Commencement activities is free in designated areas on a first-come, first serve basis. On the day of Commencement, with the exception of spaces marked “At All Times,” all University parking garages as well as most surface lots are available.Parking Garages are located as follows:
- PG7, Trinity Street and MLK Boulevard (closest to Erwin Center)
- PG3, MLK Boulevard and Brazos Street
- PG1, San Jacinto Boulevard and 24th Street
- PG4, University Avenue and 27th Street
- PG5, Robert Dedman Drive and Clyde Littlefield Drive
- PG6, Speedway and 27th Streets
