Tips to Prepare For Your First Year
|
1) Attend new student orientation during the summer. 2) Review the academic advising resources and majors provided by the McCombs School of Business. 3) Review the Student Life resources available at the McCombs School of Business. Begin thinking about organizations you may want to join and other opportunities that may enable you to develop leadership skills. 4) Begin preparing for the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). This test should be taken some time during your first year at McCombs if you don’t already have college credit for MIS 310. 5) Consider signing up for a First-Year Interest Group (FIG). The McCombs advising staff will be coordinating 20 FIGs during the fall semester. During summer orientation, you will learn more about this excellent program and have the opportunity to enroll in a FIG. 6) Send all dual-enrollment college transcripts to the UT Office of Admissions. Even though your grades may appear on your high school transcript, UT requires an official college transcript to transfer your dual-enrollment college courses to your UT record. 7) If you have not previously taken a college credit pre-Calculus or Calculus course, or the SAT Subject Test in Math Level I or Level II, you should take the Math Level I placement test during orientation. Your can either sign up for the test online or during check-in at summer orientation. 8) Consider taking a placement test in a language you studied in high school, or one that you may already know. Although most of our majors do not require a foreign language, you may decide to pursue a second major or a minor that does. 9) Make sure that you have indicated The University of Texas at Austin as an official recipient for any Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or SAT Subject Test scores. 10) Familiarize yourself with the technology resources available to McCombs students. 11) Familiarize yourself with the services offered by the McCombs BBA Career Services office. |
