The University of Deusto is one of the most distinguished and prestigious academic institutions in Spain, with campuses both in Bilbao and San Sebastián.
The Business College of the University, founded in 1916, was the first college and the only one of its kind for nearly 50 years in Spain.
During the Spanish Civil War, the University of Deusto became a military base, and after the fall of Bilbao in 1937, it was turned into a hospital and concentration camp. University life finally resumed in October 1940.
