School Facts:

• NUS was established on August 8th, 1980 through the merger of two predecessor institutions, the University of Singapore and Nanyang University.
• The roots of the university date back to 1905 when its predecessor institution, the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, was formed.
• NUS first offered the Faculty of Business Administration in 1965 where there were only 24 students and 5 faculty staff.

• Singapore is located approximately 137 kilometers north of the equator and comprises the main island of Singapore and some 63 offshore islands.
• There are close to four million Singaporeans of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian ethnicity.
• Malay, Mandarin Chinese, Tamil, and English are Singapore’s official languages.
