- English (E) 306 is the old course designation for RHE 306.

- A total of six semester hours in science must be chosen from one of the following fields: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Geology or Physics. Meteorology and Physical Science cannot be used toward this requirement. *
- This requirement must be fulfilled by a course approved by the Macomb School of Business. A list of approved courses is available in the UDOSS. This requirement cannot be fulfilled by Psychology or Sociology courses covering primarily statistics or data processing.
- This requirement must be fulfilled by one of the following courses: CMS 305, 319, or 370L. Speech (SPE) is the old course designation for CMS.
- A total of twelve semester hours beyond the freshman level must be completed in a single foreign language associated with the Area Studies specialization. Six of the hours must be at the sophomore level. The second two digits of the sophomore course numbers are 10 through 19. Six of the hours must be at the upper-division level. The second two digits of upper-division courses are 20 through 79.
- IB majors may use various combinations of lower-division foreign language, upper-division foreign language and the area studies to fulfill a minor. Interested students must see their advisor for approved combinations. *
- Students may take these courses after they have declared their major and completed all prerequisites listed in the Course Schedule.
- Only one internship course may be counted toward the degree. Some departments offer practicum courses that may be taken in place of the internship course. Contact your department for information regarding
practicums.
- International business students are required to study abroad for a minimum of one long semester or one summer session at a College approved institution. Credit earned abroad may be used to fulfill other degree requirements if appropriate. See your advisor for additional information. *
- UT residency requirements: “In residence” refers to courses taken at UT Austin; it does not include credit by exam, extension or correspondence courses. All of the following must be completed in residence and no degree will be conferred until all of the following have been completed:
18.1 At least two long-session semesters or an equivalent period of time.
18.2 A total of 30 hours.
18.3 24 hours of Business Administration, on a letter-grade basis.
18.4 12 upper-division hours, on a letter-grade basis, from the following: IB 350, IB 378, IB Elective19, IB Elective19,
Area Studies20, Area Studies20, Area Studies20.
18.5 24 of the last 30 hours.
- Six semester hours must be completed from the following courses: Finance 376, International Business 363, 372 (IB 372 may be repeated when topics vary), Legal Environment of Business 370 (Topic 5- The Law and the Multinational Corporation), and Marketing 372 (Topic: International Marketing).
- A total of nine semester hours of upper-division coursework must be completed in one field of Area Studies associated with the foreign language chosen to fulfill the degree requirements and selected from: Latin American Studies; Middle Eastern Studies; Asian Studies; Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies; or European Studies.
- The three required Area Studies courses may be used in addition to a fourth Area Studies course to fulfill the minor if all four courses have the same departmental abbreviation or if the courses are from departments with cross-listed courses. Two or three Area Studies courses may be used in addition to two or one (respectively) of the foreign language courses to fulfill the minor if the Area Studies courses have the same departmental abbreviation as the foreign language courses or if it is cross-listed with a foreign language course from the same department. * NOTE: Only one of the courses may be lower-division.
