McCombs School of Business Departmental Scholarships:

Some business departments offer awards for students in specific majors. Specific eligibility and application deadlines vary for different awards. The individual departments provided the following information. These scholarships may vary from year to year in availability and criteria. Students are encouraged to check departmental scholarship procedures and availability each semester.

  1. ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT

    The Department of Accounting does not have advance information about specific scholarships, so check with the department frequently.

  2. FINANCE DEPARTMENT

    The Department of Finance has a limited number of scholarships that may be available to undergraduate students, but does not have an advance list. If scholarships become available, application information is posted around the CBA/GSB.

    Dr. James C. Dolley Endowed Presidential Scholarship

    • 1 @ $2,500
    • Full time junior or senior
    • Specialization in banking or investment banking (must have selected one of these tracks)
    • Primary Criteria
      • scholastic achievement
      • potential (leadership)
    • Secondary Criteria
      • financial need may be considered 

    Finance Annual Fund Scholarships (Department Selection Criteria)

    • 1 @ $1,000 or 2 @ $500  (total available  $1,000)
    • Full time junior or senior
    • Specialization in corporate finance (must have selected this track)
    • Primary Criteria
      • scholastic achievement
      • potential (leadership)
    • Secondary Criteria
      • financial need may be considered

    Houston Mariners Club Scholarships (Department Selection Criteria)

    • 1 @ $600 and 2 @ $500 (total available  $1,600)
    • Full time junior or senior
    • Specialization in corporate finance (must have selected this track)
    • Primary Criteria
      • scholastic achievement potential (leadership)
    • Secondary Criteria
      • financial need may be considered

    J.L. Mosle Memorial Scholarships

    • 4 @ $2,500
    • Full time junior or senior
    • Specialization in investment banking (must have selected this track)
    • Primary Criteria
      • scholastic achievement
      • potential (leadership)
    • Secondary Criteria
      • financial need may be considered

    Ernest Walker Outstanding Finance Student Award

    • 1 @ $1,000 
    • Full time senior in final semester
    • Highest GPA in finance classes
    • Primary Criteria
      • scholastic achievement

    • Secondary Criteria
      • financial need may be considered

  3. MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

    The Management Department does not award scholarships at the undergraduate level.

  4. INFORMATION, RISK and OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT (IROM)

    Management Information Systems Majors:

    • Hultz/Whittle Outstanding Student Award
      Semester Awarded – Fall. Classification - Undergraduate or Graduate. Qualifications Required - Full-time student; financial need; academic achievement; future potential; MIS major; GPA – 3.0.
    • Truett Airhart Scholarship
      Semester Awarded – Fall. Classification – Undergraduate; MIS major; GPA – 3.0.
    • Christy Paige Wagner Endowed Presidential Scholarship
      Semester Awarded – Fall. Classification – Undergraduate. Qualifications - Female MIS major; GPA - 3.5
    • Wilbert W. Krause Endowed Scholarship
      Semester Awarded – Fall. Classification – Undergraduate; MIS major; GPA – 3.0.

    Legal Environment of Business

    Two awards are generally offered through the Legal Environment of Business area. Applications for the following awards are available through the McCombs Scholarship Application online in February. Leo G. Blackstock Scholarship for students who are interested in becoming lawyers, and the Karl and Helen McGinnis Scholarship for Juniors and Seniors with a 3.75 overall GPA and partially self-sustaining. Students qualified should fill out the scholarship application, and indicate an interest in law and/or partially self-sustaining to be considered.
     

  5. MARKETING DEPARTMENT

    The Marketing Department does not award undergraduate scholarships.
