Travel Tips

There are a number of travel options available for the 9 mile journey from the Airport the University:

  • Rental Cars - There are a variety of rental car companies that offer cars for daily rental, with 24 hour pickup and drop at the airport itself. This is the most convenient option, although it might work out expensive for travelers on a budget. Requires driver and vehicle insurance and works out between $50-$100 per day.
  • Taxi - cabs are available directly at the airport and are also available for pickup at a specified address. Approximate cost $25 from Airport to University
  • SuperShuttle - about half the price of a cab. Although you will need to share the ride with fellow passengers, you will be dropped to the destination of your choice. Ask for directions to the SuperShuttle counter at the airport, from which you can directly book a SuperShuttle.
  • Capital Metro, Austin's local bus service, provides a shuttle (Route 100) from the Airport directly to the University. This is the cheapest travel option, at $0.75 for a single journey, $1.50 for a day pass and $7 for a weekly pass. Click here for more information.

Restaurants

The University of Texas at Austin is located adjacent to downtown Austin, which offers a wide variety of places to eat at, ranging from budget options available at Guadalupe St right opposite the University, to fine dining restaurants in downtown.
