The New Employee Welcome and Orientation program, conducted by Human Resource Services, provides a comprehensive introduction to employment at The University of Texas at Austin, including employee benefits. Attendance is strongly encouraged for all new benefits-eligible (classified and Administrative/Professional) positions, as well as faculty and student positions. Your supervisor will ensure that you attend as soon as possible after your date of hire. You may register yourself or your departmental HR contact, manager, or your supervisor may register you for the next available session
Welcome to the McCombs School of Business. To facilitate the transition into your new position we provide the information and links on this page to help you navigate the new hire process. If you were previously employed by another University department, you should have completed most of the University's new hire processes. Remember to change your personal data to reflect your new position, office location, and telephone number. You should still complete the McCombs New Employee Orientation Checklist with your supervisor.
If you are new to the University and/or State employment you will need to complete the University's new hire processes within 30 days of your employment. The HRS New Employee Checklist (see link below) is where you begin and it will guide you through the things you need to do on your first day, in your first week, and the first month of your employment.
Additionally, McCombs has developed a New Employee Orientation Checklist to assist in your orientation to the McCombs School of Business and your department. Your supervisor should walk you through the steps in this checklist. You can download the McCombs New Employee Orientation Checklist
All employees of the University are required to complete compliance training. This includes faculty, staff and student employees. The modules are available online and are relatively easy to complete. Please budget some time during your first week for this training. New employees to the University need to read the Employee Compliance Guide and submit the signed acknowledgement form to your supervisor for filing in your departmental personnel file. You will also need to complete all required training modules included on your profile at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/cts. Please note that State law requires employees to complete sexual harassment training (CW 121) and equal employment opportunity training (CW123) within thirty (30) days of employment and every two years thereafter. Additional information can be obtained at http://www.utexas.edu/administration/oic/index.html.
A step-by-step guide for new employees, including detailed instructions on the "when/where/how" for items you need to complete your first day, first week, and first month of employment with the University.
