Research InterestsDr. Konana's research interests are in business value assessment (Webcast of presentation at Dell DirectConnect conference), virtual communities and implications on market efficiency (some initial work), outsourcing and offshoring decision variables, next generation electronic brokerages, determinants of adoption of internet-based procurement, supply-chain management, study of beliefs and attitudes of online investors, determinants of satisfaction in online investing, and effects of IT in developing economy. AwardsDr. Konana is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers, the highest teaching award at the University of Texas at Austin. He is a recipient of several research awards and grants. He received the prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award ($295,438), NSF Information Technology Research grant ($499,996) (with Balasubramanian and Rajagopal), ICIS best paper runner up award, and CBA Foundation Research Excellence Award. He has also received grants from IBM, Intel, and Dell. He has received many teaching excellence awards including Hank and Mary Foundation Award for Effective Teaching in Undergraduate Teaching, El Paso Energy Foundation Teaching Excellence award, Trammell/CBA Foundation Teaching Excellence award, and Elective Faculty Honor Roll, McCombs School of Business. He has been nominated by MBA students for outstanding MBA core faculty and faculty with outstanding ability to connect business with academics. He received the “Most Challenging Class” and “Most Looked Forward to Class” awards from Management Information Systems Association (MISA), Spring 2000.
