This Certificate Program is offered through the collaboration of CIBER at the McCombs School of Business and the International Relations and Global Studies major of the College of Liberal Arts.

Application Requirements

Undergraduate students from any major may apply to the CGM program. In order for your application to be considered, you must be a degree-seeking student. Admission to the program is based on

  • Your overall university performance. (Minimum 3.0 GPA does not guarantee admittance.)
  •  The length and location of your proposed international experience (preference is given to longer experiences in strategic business locations).
  • International internships must receive approval one semester in advance to guarantee that they will count for credit towards the certificate.  Internships must include six weeks abroad and 160 hours of work related to your major or interests.  Submit internship plan to globalcertificate@mccombs.utexas.edu with “Internship Proposal: Your Name” in the subject heading.  Include the following information:
     1. Name of internship program/provider (e.g., BE Global Program)
     2. City and country of internship
     3. Duration of internship (length of time abroad)
     4. Number of hours worked during internship
     5. Responsibilities
     6. Attached letter from employer confirming the terms of your employment
  • The quality of articulation of your professional objective.
  • Letters of recommendation from your faculty or advisors.

Completion of certificate requirements usually requires at least three long semesters, due to course availability and sequencing and the international experience requirement. Be sure to plan your course and international experience timeline before applying.
