EMP History

In June 2013, The University of Texas at Austin launched an Undergraduate Energy Management Program within the McCombs School of Business that provides an officially recognized program of study in Energy Management, for students across all disciplines, to pursue in parallel with a traditional degree. The Energy Management Program is designed to train a skilled and knowledgeable pipeline of talent to accommodate the needs of the oil and gas exploration and production industry in the United States and across the world.

In June of 2015, the American Association of Professional Landmen added the Energy Management Program to the list of 11 accredited land management programs. The association leads oil and gas landmen in fair business, reinforces responsible use of resources and serves to provide its members with a platform in which to network, advocate for the industry and promote business.

"My biggest recommendation would be to actively pursue opportunities and network and don’t be afraid of barriers and titles. Do everything you can to set yourself apart and be genuine. Don’t join a program hoping that opportunities will come to you. Join a program hoping to seek the change to find your own opportunities."
