FAQs

Who is eligible to compete in the Global Venture Labs Investment Competition?
Teams can enter the global VLIC through two channels: 
1. Qualify for the Competition by winning one of our participating competitions. 
Here's the list of participating competitions.
2. Selection to compete by applying through our open application process.

How do I get the password to access the Team Registration page?
If you are an invited team, your faculty adviser or coordinator will have the password. They may contact Ann Whitt to get the information.

Does my faculty adviser have to attend the competition?
No, your faculty adviser is not required to attend.

What materials are provided for the Venture Showcase?
Each team will be provided one six-foot table and a tabletop sign. You may rent easels, extension cords and other equipment from the AT&T Conference Center in advance.

Is a computer provided for the competition, or do we bring our own?
Teams must bring their own laptop computer for their presentation. A computer projector will be provided.

Will the judges see my business materials in advance?
The Opening Round, Challenge Round, Semifinals and Finals judges will all have a chance to evaluate your executive summary before your presentation. Your business plan will be read at the judges' discretion based on their interest in your executive summary.

What are the differences in judging the various rounds?
In the Opening Round and Semifinals, the teams get 30 minutes to make their presentations and answer the judges' questions. In the Finals, teams have 45 minutes to make their presentations and answer the judges' questions. The judges are allowed to interrupt with questions at any time. The Challenge Round is a free-form format with the judges interrupting with questions as they see fit.
