In 1912, Professor Spurgeon Bell taught the first accounting class at The University of Texas. Twenty-two years later, in 1934, Lloyd Raisty earned the first Texas Ph.D. in accounting, making our program one of the oldest and most venerated in the nation. Since then, 279 accounting Ph.D.s have been conferred by the graduate school at The University of Texas.
The University of Texas is a well-known producer of top researchers and educators in accounting. The influence of our Ph.D. program continues to grow as our graduates carry the tradition of Texas scholarship to universities around the world.
We invite you to join us in Austin on November 1 – November 3, 2012 for a reunion and research conference for Texas Ph.D. graduates.
Together we will celebrate 100 years of excellence!
