Healthcare@McCombs: Upcoming Events

SX Health and MedTech Expo

The second annual SX Health and MedTech Expo during the SXSW Interactive conference is rapidly approaching, and the Healthcare@McCombs Initiative will be there to absorb what’s on the cutting edge of digital health and entrepreneurial models for health care delivery.  The initiative will host a reception downtown on Monday, March 14 to celebrate the excitement of SXSW and convene health care innovators that include University of Texas students, faculty, and researchers as well as local health community stakeholders and conference attendees.

Healthcare Symposium

For the past seven years, the McCombs School of Business Healthcare Initiative (Healthcare@McCombs) has hosted the area’s largest interdisciplinary research conference on healthcare delivery. This year, the topic is “Reimagining Healthcare: Improving the Present, Designing the Future.” The symposium is taking place Thursday, April 7th and Friday, April 8th at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center and will feature keynote presentations from Bobby Milstein (MIT/Rethink Health), Stacey Chang (Dell’s Design Institute), Luci Leykum (UT Health San Antonio), Edward Anderson (McCombs School of Business), and Dr. Gregory Sorensen (formerly Siemens Healthcare North America).

The event will also feature the latest healthcare research from over 50 faculty and researchers across the UT campus and beyond. Hüseyin Tanriverdi and IROM Ph.D. alum, Kui (Andy) Du will be presenting their research on why the price of hospital services are so high, Thursday, April 7th.  For more information about the symposium and to register, go to
