Jerry Han

Jerry Han

Jerry Han is a doctoral student in the Marketing department at the University of Texas at Austin. He received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Seoul National University in 2010. He also received a M.S. degree in Marketing from Seoul National University, where he worked with professor Kiwan Park. His current researches in two areas. He is investigating how certain negative emotions, like disgust, can affect people's evaluation of certain products in a positive way. He is also conducting research on consumer's future-time perception. He looks at factors that affect people's duration perceptions of future experiences. Jerry is an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers (MLB) and San Antonio Spurs (NBA). He also likes to spend time playing the guitar.

Xinying Hao

Xinying Hao is a doctoral student in Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin. She received a B.S. in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Zhejiang University, China in 2013. Xinying has also worked as a part-time website designer by user-centered analysis. Her research interest lies in marketing analytics using statistical tools, such as semi-parametric methods, Bayesian estimation, and data mining approaches. She is particularly fond of big data research related to social networks and online marketing.

Hyunkyu (Sean) Jang

Sean Jang is a doctoral candidate in the Marketing department at the University of Texas at Austin, with a focus on consumer behavior. His primary research interest is in prosocial behavior. One study is concerned with how to elicit the closest approximations of actual behavior, examining whether indirect questions about how others will act (i.e., projective technique questions) or direct questions about how the respondent will himself act more closely approximate actual donation behavior. Sean received both his Bachelors of Business Administration, with a double major in Communication, and M.S. degree in Marketing from Seoul National University, South Korea. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, he spent three years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Sandra Kim

Sandra Kim is a doctoral student in marketing at the University of Texas at Austin. Her current research interests include empirical analysis of firm-level marketing strategies such as branding and positioning.She got her B.A. in Economics (minor in business) from Rice University. Prior to joining the marketing program, Sandra worked in the mass retail industry. Besides research, she enjoys outdoor activities and baking.

Xing Mike Lan

Xing Lan is a doctoral student in the Marketing department at the University of Texas at Austin. He received a B.A. degree in mathematics and economics from the University of Virginia in 2012. Prior to joining the Marketing department, he studied economics and received a M.S. degree in Economics also at UT Austin. His current research interest lies in pricing and online marketing , with a methodological focus on structural modeling and empirical IO.

Crystal Lee

Hyunjung Lee (Crystal) is a doctoral student in Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin. Her main research interests are the effect of emotion, self-concept, interpersonal behavior, and culture on consumer behavior. She received B.A. in Psychology and minor in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and M.A. in Social Psychology from Seoul National University. She also worked as a researcher at the Center for Happiness Studies at Seoul National University and a management consultant at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Besides research, she enjoys traveling, painting, live music, and outdoor activities.

Jiyoung Lee

Jiyoung Lee is a doctoral student in the Marketing department at the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in consumer behavior. She received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Korea University and a Master's degree in Marketing from Seoul National University. Her research interests are related to interpersonal influence on consumers' inference making and mental budgeting. Jiyoung also loves music and travel.

Lan Liang

Lan Liang is a first-year doctoral student in Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin. She received a B.A. in Advertising from the Communication University of China, an M.S. degree in Marketing from University of Rochester and an M.S. degree in Statistics from University of Arkansas. Before going to graduate school, she worked in advertising and business development in China and the U.K. She also worked for LG Electronics (China) as on interactive marketing specialist. Her research interests include empirical models and Bayesian statistical methods.

Zhuping Liu

Zhuping is a doctoral student in Marketing at The University of Texas at Austin. He studied operations management and statistics at The University of Connecticut before coming to UT. He is interested in modeling consumer behavior using Bayesian statistics, structural models and game theory.

Nandini Ramani

Nandini Ramani is a PhD student in Marketing at the University of Texas Austin. Her research interests include econometric modelling, emerging markets and the impact of marketing strategies on firm performance in turbulent environments. She is currently looking at how the marketing spending of incumbent firms in emerging markets enables them to weather the effects of economic liberalization. She received a BS in Computer Science Engineering from Visveswariya Technological University and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management. Prior to joining the doctoral program, she worked in the telecommunication industry in sales and marketing roles.

Elia Rho

Elia Rho is a doctoral student in Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin. He received a B.A. in Business Administration from Korea University and a M.S. degree in Statistics from University of Michigan. His current research is about movie stars' brand image transitions. He is investigating how movie stars brand images transit by every movie starring and how those brand images affect the probability that the movie stars feature in specific genre and budget of movies. Elia is a huge fan of playing, watching, and talking about soccer.



Chandra Srivastava

Chandra Srivastava is a doctoral student in the Marketing department at the University of Texas at Austin.  Her research interests are in empirical analysis of the impact of firm-level marketing decisions on firm performance. She is currently researching the impact of corporate social performance on financial outcomes.  She received a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in History from the University of Texas. Prior to joining the marketing program, Chandra worked for a corporate reputation and crisis management firm for five years.

Gunes Biliciler Unal is a doctoral student in Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in consumer behavior. She received a B.A. degree in Business Administration (with a minor in Sociology) and a M.S. degree in Social Psychology from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. Her main research interests include the nonconscious determinants of consumer behavior, and the relationship between affect and consumer behavior. Frank (Jianqing) Zheng

Frank (Jianqing) Zheng is a doctoral student in Marketing (Consumer Behavior) at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Bachelor of Science in Statistics degree from Fudan University, China. He also worked as an intern at consumer insights team of PepsiCo, China before joining the program. His research interests focus on how new technologies (e.g., social media, smartphone) and social dynamics (e.g., interpersonal closeness, social status) jointly influence consumer behavior. Outside of academics, he is a fan of Japanese rock band “Bump of Chicken” and idol group SKE48.
