Andrew Henderson is an associate professor of management for The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. He teaches courses on strategic management, which covers industry analysis, economics, finance, and marketing and operations. Prior to working at McCombs, Henderson was an assistant professor at Columbia University.

Henderson’s work in the field of management and economics has included analyzing the performance of successful companies, the dynamics of CEO tenure and obsolescence, company strategy, and management coordination. He has extensively researched the role timing plays in the success or failure of an organization or CEO, investigating whether high-performing companies became that way because of luck or strategy. He has also studied company obsolescence and has proposed strategies on how companies can work to avoid it. His papers have been published in the Harvard Business Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, and Academy of Management Journal, among others.

Henderson attended Rice University to earn a B.S. in electrical engineering. He attended Texas McCombs to earn an MBA in management and a Ph.D. in strategic management.
