Shefali V. Patil is an Assistant Professor of Management at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. Her research examines how employees cope with various evaluative challenges, such as perceived public misunderstandings of their jobs, public scrutiny/criticism, and monitoring—-and the ultimate effects it has on their decision making, proactivity, and job effectiveness. She is currently examining these questions in the context of law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical rescue, and healthcare. She earned her B.S. in Management and Organizations, summa cum laude and Beta Gamma Sigma honors, from the Stern School of Business at New York University, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
