Biography Capitalizing on his training and experience as an attorney, Ed’s research examines how law changes behavior in the workplace. Thus, his primary research stream studies what is traditionally explored by scholars in human resources management primarily through a more micro lens. For example, his dissertation observes how managers perceive the risk of being sued in making three crucial employment decisions (hiring, promotion, and firing), and how the perception of this risk changes their behavior in ways that may negatively affect organizational diversity initiatives while contravening the policy behind discrimination laws.

Ed holds a BA in English and an MBA from Brigham Young University, and a JD from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. During his eight-year legal career, he specializing primarily in defending health care providers in medical malpractice litigation.
