The VIP Speaker Series is the official McCombs School of Business Lecturer Series. Executives from all fields in business, from technology and finance to accounting, consulting and beyond are invited to speak about their experiences, successes, and struggles at the McCombs School of Business. We hold the Speaker Series throughout the academic year. This program has brought many esteemed executives and best-selling authors to McCombs. This is one of the Undergraduate Business Council’s most prestigious programs, known across the university. Students, professors and staff flock to hear the stories of executives from around the world.

The VIP Speaker Series has implemented a new Q&A format. Students are asked to submit questions they would like to ask the executives before the event. An interviewer, usually a McCombs Business Member, interviews the speaker based on the questions received and accepted. Afterward, the audience is free to ask more questions. Some executives also have a “meet and greet” with some students after the event.

In the fall and spring of every year, the Undergraduate Business Council hosts a case competition open to all McCombs students. Case competitions give students the opportunity to showcase their business talents in a week-long competition where they are presented a real-world business problem. Corporate sponsors write each case and judge the competition. In the past, winners of the competition have represented McCombs in larger competitions like the USC Marshall Cup Case Competition and the International Case Competition in Hong Kong. Case prizes for the top three winning teams usually range from $500-$2000. Previous sponsors have included: ConocoPhillips, General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Shell, Target, OtherInbox and DropBox. This program provides students a wonderful opportunity to develop problem-solving skills while gaining exposure to major companies and varying industries.
