Year in Review: Marketing Department's Exciting New Endeavors

Wayne HoyerThis has been an exciting and productive year for the Department of Marketing at the McCombs School of Business. We have engaged in a variety of interesting and important initiatives.  First, we (along with Peter Zandan of Hill & Knowlton) developed and initiated the Texas Energy Poll which serves as an index and survey of public opinion with regard to energy issues. A major goal for this study is to serve as an impartial authoritative source of public opinion of energy issues.  Read more.

Yoo-hoo Project: Breakthrough in Collaborative Experiential Marketing Education

The word has been spreading about our new initiative to provide a live MBA brand manager program at McCombs.  In May the new “McCombs Brand Experience” program was formally announced. CCIMS in collaboration with the CCIMS Marketing Fellows, is offering real-world opportunities to experience live marketing roles, with actual results responsibility.  The first effort is being piloted by two Marketing Fellows MBA students (class of 2013) who are working as the brand team for the chocolate drink Yoo-hoo, a $100 million Dr Pepper Snapple Group brand. Successful 1st Annual McCombs Marketing Conference


The first annual McCombs Marketing Conference was co-hosted by CCIMS and the CCIMS Marketing Fellows MBA students. The conference spotlighted trends shaping innovation in marketing. The program focused on how these trends affect the current marketplace and how marketers can capitalize on the trends to position themselves ahead of their peers.

CCIMS Fall Roundtable—"Using Business Analytics to Drive Customer-Centric Marketing"

During our Fall Roundtable, CCIMS will provide a forum for an exchange of experiences, ideas, and challenges in the use of business analytics to drive customer-centric marketing.  We expect that presentations will showcase a wide range of marketing applications including customer segmentation, merchandising, promotion campaign design and execution, and loyalty programs to name a few.

McCombs Marketing Conference 2013—"Insights and Actions for Tomorrow’s Marketing Challenges"
