Academic Advisors and Career Consultants

All students are required to meet with an academic advisor when they enter the MPA program. Students who plan to participate in the Texas McCombs recruiting process are strongly encouraged to meet with a career consultant, as well. Although it is our preference that you meet with us in person, we also offer virtual academic advising and career consulting as an option to accommodate our incoming students’ busy schedules.

Academic Advisors >

Academic Advisors

Your academic advisor will review your undergraduate transcript(s) to determine if you have satisfied the pre-enrollment requirements and if any MPA classes can be waived or substituted.

Students who are beginning the MPA program in the fall should schedule an academic advising appointment before August 19, 2019. International students are strongly encouraged to meet with their academic advisor before August 12.

Students who are required to start in the summer should schedule an academic advising appointment before July 12, 2019.

If you have any questions, please contact your assigned academic advisor:

Last name starting with A-L: Sheryll Cox, MPA.Sheryll@mccombs.utexas.edu

Last name starting with M-S: Jason Tasset, MPA.Jason@mccombs.utexas.edu

Last name starting with T-Z: Keri Ledezma, MPA.Keri@mccombs.utexas.edu

Please do not contact your academic advisor to schedule your initial advising appointment. Instead, use the online appointment request form.

Career Consultants

If you are planning on participating in the Texas McCombs recruiting process, we strongly recommend that you speak to a career consultant first. A resume review is the best place to start in preparation for the resume book deadline on July 10, 2019. We are also available to discuss other career topics such as:

  • Career options with an MPA degree
  • Researching, identifying, and applying for positions
  • Writing a cover letter
  • Communicating with employers
  • Networking
  • Interviewing
  • Handling delicate recruiting issues
  • Evaluating a job offer
