Bridge Admission for UT Undergraduates

Texas Energy Graduates 

The Texas McCombs MS Bridge Program admissions option is available to University of Texas at Austin undergraduate students for all four degrees: Business Analytics, Finance, Information Technology & Management, and Marketing.

The MS Bridge Program offers students the opportunity to start graduate courses during their undergraduate program. Admission as a Bridge Student is highly competitive but includes a number of benefits, including:

  • Admission after junior year of undergraduate degree
  • MS degree coursework during the summer after junior year
    • A Pathway Two admissions options is available for students who have confirmed internship offers for the summer after their junior year - contact your specific Program Coordinator for details
  • Time for internship upon completing bachelor's degree
  • Access to McCombs' Career Services after successful completion of summer coursework
  • GRE/GMAT score waiver with qualifying cumulative GPA
  • MS Bridge students receive a $1,500 discount on the total cost of tuition during their summer semester in the program
  • MS Bridge courses taken while an undergraduate student are offered through University Extension and are not financial aid-eligible
  • Students enrolled through University Extension do not have access to some University services, including but not limited to UHS, CMHC, and RecSports. Students can arrange for services at an additional cost by contacting each respective office

The application for the Class of 2021 MS Bridge Programs is now closed. Applications open each year in January for Bridge and close at the final deadline in May.

Applications for acceptance to the Class of 2022 will open in early January 2020.

What to Expect as a Bridge Student

If accepted into the program, here are a few details about what the summer between your junior and senior year would look like:

  • 1-week orientation in July - dates for orientation and classes will be provided to applicants admitted to the program. 
  • 2-3 summer classes running Monday-Thursday
  • Career Development events on Fridays

As a Bridge Student, you have the opportunity to network with two different groups of MS Program students. You'll learn with some of the best and brightest in the field and make connections that will last into your professional career.

You will also have access to our MS Programs specific Career Coaches and can set up meetings to discuss your future career path. Career Coaches can help with resume review, goal setting, and career strategies to secure an internship following your senior year.

Qualified applicants to the MS Bridge Programs should meet the following criteria:

  • Junior academic standing 
  • Strong communication skills
  • A Bridge Program Application
    • Personal Essays
    • Letters of recommendation
    • Resume
    • Admissions for the MS Bridge Program is highly competitive. Students may be required to submit test scores at the request of the admissions committee depending on GPA and strength of additional application materials.
  • Program specific coursework must be met:
    • MSITM specific coursework
    • MSBA specific coursework
    • MSF specific coursework
    • MSM specific coursework

Calculating Bridge Tuition Rates

The Texas McCombs Master of Science Programs offer an incredible value for students pursuing their graduate degree in business. The Bridge Program offers two Pathways - I and II - for students to gain admissions to the Master of Science Degrees. For Pathway II students, tuition costs are as listed on our main tuition page.

Both Pathway I and Pathway II students pay a pre-enrollment tuition fee to secure their seat in the program.
A non-refundable $2,000 deposit is required once an applicant accepts our offer of admission in order to secure a seat in the program, and is credited toward your overall program costs.

For students completes graduate courses during their undergraduate program (Pathway I Bridge Students), current tuition costs* for the 2019-2020 Texas McCombs MS Programs are as follows:

For a student from Cockrell School of Engineering paying the Traditional Texas In-State Tuition Rate:
MS Finance Total Cost: $38,401 + $3,318 = $41,419
