Ivy Oliver Appointed Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of the McCombs School of Business
The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin has named Ivy Oliver as its new chief marketing and communications officer beginning Sept. 1, 2021. Oliver has held the role of interim CMCO since April 2021 following Emily Reagan’s appointment as the university’s first vice president and chief marketing and communications officer.
As CMCO, Oliver will lead the school’s marketing and communications efforts, manage McCombs’ reputation, and deliver consistent messaging in support of the school’s mission, strategic initiatives, and objectives.
She will lead the CMCO team, overseeing all school-level marketing and branding, social media, internal communications, media relations, and issues management, working closely with UT’s central communications team.
“I’ve had the opportunity to see Ivy in action in her advisory role to the CMCO office over the last 100-plus days, and her strategic thinking and drive have already created positive outcomes,” said Lillian Mills, dean of the McCombs School of Business.
Oliver worked with Texas Executive Education for the past three years as fractional-CMO, where she served as a key strategic partner for marketing. She played a critical role in McCombs’ digital transformation efforts with the CRM360 project, providing expertise and guidance on Salesforce design and implementation, and the integration of best-in-class marketing automation tools. Through her ongoing work, TEE programs are positioned to make great strides locally and globally.
Oliver brings data and pipeline orientations to her work, integrating her broad strengths in planning, demand generation, technology enablement, brand strategy, communications, and marketing leadership.
Oliver’s experience extends beyond higher education into the private sector where she’s spent the past 20 years running an award-winning agency focused on providing brand strategy and multi-disciplinary marketing services to organizations in the mid-market and enterprise spaces including Avaya, IBM, DELL, Sage, Blackbaud and Abila.
“Her agency background and aptitude in all areas of brand development, reputation management, product portfolio management, marketing strategy and creativity are quickly evident,” said Mills. “I look forward to having Ivy join our leadership as a key strategic partner.”
