The Seven Deadly Sins of Strategy - Part I

When organizations fail to develop and implement strategy that maximizes value, one often sees the same patterns of behaviors or “sins” occur over and over. These sins include delusion and pride, incognizance and indolence, wimpiness, and groupthink. Their results include failing to have adequate awareness and perspective, failing to grasp reality, risk aversion, lack of healthy dissent, and over emphasis on thinking about opportunities without adequate emphasis on execution. In this two-part webinar, Carl Spetzler and Mazen Skafboth partners at SDG and experts in decision-making under conditions of uncertainty and complexitywill discuss how behaviors that are considered sins at one moment are lauded as virtues when applied at another time or in a different situation. In addition, they will show how employing specific behaviors by the right people, at the right time, can change potential strategy sins into strategy virtues. Attendees are encouraged to attend Part I and Part II of this webinar to experience the key learnings of each. There is no requirement to attend Part I before attending Part II.
